Premier Inn Opening Summer 2009

Monday 1 December 2008

This week  Lisburn City Council welcomed a visit by the developers of a new hotel being built in the city of Lisburn, which is on schedule to open in the Summer of 2009.

Following a meeting with the developers, Whitbread, and the Conway Group, Lisburn City Council Mayor Councillor Ronnie Crawford, and Councillor Allan Ewart, Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Economic Development Committee expressed their delight at the news that the new city hotel, Premier Inn was on schedule to open in Summer 2009.

Commenting on the news the Mayor, Councillor Ronnie Crawford said:  “I am delighted with this news.  It is a great boost for the city to have a hotel erected at this time.  This is what the city has been missing.  The City has been experiencing a boost to the economy from southern shoppers, and the hotel will be a huge asset to the area enabling shoppers from further a field to come and stay in our great City.  We have a lot to offer.”

Councillor  Allan Ewart, Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Economic Development unit said: “This hotel strengthens our bid to attract Olympic teams to come and train in the region. We have state of the art facilities in the area including the National Badminton Centre, Salto Gymnastic centre and of course  the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.  This hotel adds another string to our bow!”
