Lisburn City Council, along with the Department of Social Development, is working to develop an area in the southeast area of the City Centre that will be known as Laganbank Quarter. The Laganbank Quarter area of Lisburn City Centre represents a unique opportunity for investment. The area will be transformed into a new city centre commercial and riverfront quarter with a high quality landscaped linear avenue and square, linkning the riverfront to the city centre.
The Laganbank Quarter Development Scheme is based on two Lisburn City Centre Development Frameworks produced in 2006 covering the Linenhall Street area and Young Street riverside areas. These vision documents are non-statutory consultation reports produced by Lisburn City Council and can be found at http://www.investlisburn.com/publications/
It is hoped the Development Frameworks will stimulate investment and the comprehensive regeneration of the area, providing development principles, design guidance and, importantly, a vision for the area. The future development of the Laganbank Quarter will play a major role in regenerating this area of Lisburn City Centre, strengthening links to the developments on the Lagan, and enhancing the regional role and vitality and viability of the City Centre.
